Online therapy for adults & couples across Maryland
The same depth of work I do in the Rockville office, including individual therapy, couples work, and hypnotherapy, is available over secure video. No commute, no waiting room, no compromise on the quality of the conversation.
The honest question
For most adults, yes. Research consistently finds that video therapy produces outcomes comparable to in-person treatment for anxiety, depression, and relationship concerns, and many people go deeper at home, in a space that already feels like theirs, without the transition of a commute on either side of the hour.
The experiential methods I use, including attention, imagery, emotion, and hypnotherapy, translate well to video. Hypnosis in particular works reliably online: it depends on your focus and my voice, not on being in the same room. What matters is the quality of attention on both sides of the screen, and that's something we build deliberately.
There are situations where I will recommend in-person treatment or a different level of care instead, including some crisis situations and cases where a private space at home simply is not possible. If online isn't the right fit for you, I'll say so in the consultation.
Who online sessions tend to fit
Baltimore, Annapolis, Frederick, Columbia, or the Eastern Shore: if you are in Maryland, distance is no longer the reason you cannot work with a therapist who fits.
When the alternative is losing two extra hours to travel, online is often the difference between doing therapy consistently and not doing it at all. Consistency is what makes therapy work.
Fewer logistics, fewer transitions, fewer chances for the appointment to fall through the cracks. One click at session time, from the environment where your actual life happens.
What I offer online
01Anxiety, overthinking, perfectionism, ADHD, attachment patterns, life transitions. The full depth of the work, over video.
→ 02Gottman Method couples work over video. You can join from the same couch or, when schedules demand it, from separate locations, as long as both of you are in Maryland.
→ 03Short-term, structured help for couples where one partner is leaning out. The individual conversations at its core work naturally over video.
→ 04Hypnosis translates unusually well to video: some clients find it easier to settle into a focused state at home than anywhere else.
→The practical side
If your question is not here, bring it to the free consultation. That is exactly what it is for.
A private space, a reliable internet connection, and a computer, tablet, or phone with a camera. Headphones help with both privacy and sound quality. Before your first session you'll receive a secure video link. No account or software to set up.
Sessions run on a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform built for healthcare, not consumer video chat. Sessions are never recorded. On your end, privacy mostly means a door that closes; if home doesn't offer one, a parked car works better than people expect.
We will agree on a simple backup plan in your first session, usually reconnecting first and switching to phone if video will not cooperate. Technology hiccups happen occasionally; they've never been a reason the work couldn't continue.
Yes. Online and in-person sessions are identical in fee and length, and the same out-of-network billing support applies. For individual therapy, I can provide superbills and submit out-of-network claims for you electronically. Fees & insurance →
Yes. Many clients do most sessions by video and come to the Rockville office occasionally, or the reverse. We will find the rhythm that keeps the work consistent. That matters more than the format.
