An unusual path to this office

Fifteen years studying how people change, then clinical training to go deeper.

Before earning my M.Ed. in Counseling at George Mason University, I spent more than fifteen years in hypnosis, coaching, and experiential change work, completing more than 6,200 session hours, training over a hundred practitioners, and presenting at the National Institutes of Health. That history shapes how I practice now: therapy that integrates depth and meaning with experiential methods and practical change, not just insight that stays in the room.

Common questions

Finding a therapist in Rockville

Are you accepting new clients?+

This changes frequently, the best thing to do is reach out. If my caseload is full for your situation, I'll say so directly and help you find a well-matched therapist rather than putting you on an indefinite list.

How do I choose among all the therapists in Rockville?+

Research consistently finds that the strength of the therapy relationship predicts outcomes better than any particular method. So the honest answer is to talk to two or three therapists and notice whom you would actually tell the truth to. That's exactly what free consultations are for, and I'd rather you use mine to make a good decision than a fast one. What differentiates my practice is the integration: depth-oriented psychotherapy, Gottman-informed couples work, and more than fifteen years experience using experiential and hypnotherapy methods in one office.

Do you take insurance?+

I'm out-of-network, which many Maryland plans reimburse substantially. For individual therapy, I provide superbills and can submit out-of-network claims electronically, giving you reimbursement without the homework. The full picture, including fees and what questions to ask your insurer, is on the Fees & Insurance page.

I'm not in Rockville. Can we still work together?+

If you're anywhere in Maryland, yes. Secure video sessions are identical in depth, length, and fee to in-person work, and many clients mix the two. I'm licensed in Maryland, so you'll need to be in the state during sessions. If you're elsewhere, I'm glad to help you find someone licensed where you are.
